Let us have a flashback to one of my favorite childhood memories: Hawaiian Lū‘au! The sizzling pig, the mesmerizing dancers – it was pure excitement. And guess what? I stayed up the entire night as a kid and dozed off right at the table. I couldn’t wait to pass on this unforgettable Lū‘au experience to my own kiddos. So here I am at the Aulani Resort in Hawaii. Is it worth it? Absolutely! Trust me, attending a Lū‘au is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you won’t want to miss. But wait, if you’ve already been to one, you might be wondering if Disney adds anything new and exciting to the mix. Well, keep reading and find out the answer for yourself.
Activities Before Dinner
Get ready for a blast while you wait for your yummy food. You’ll get to help pound taro to make poi, get laid with flowers, get tattooed, plus stamp traditional kapa patterns that represent the beauty of nature and the stories of Hawaii. This will keep your little ones entertained while you wait for your food to arrive.
Food
Experience a standard Hawaiian buffet with fare quality – but wait, there’s more. While I personally didn’t find the selection to be my favorite, my husband was absolutely thrilled. And hey, don’t worry about the little ones – they get their own bento box filled with tasty chicken nuggets and macaroni cheese. Lū‘au Performance
Experience the magical luau on the stunning Hālāwai Lawn at Aulani. If your room faces this beautiful lawn, you’ll have the perfect view of the show (hint ) perfect if you want to save money.
The brother and sister storyline of KA WA’A – is a truly Disney-esque experience. While there are captivating dances and charming characters, the spotlight remains on the captivating sibling narrative.

Please get your tickets ASAP when they become available which is 6 months in advance! These seats are in high demand and go like hotcakes. Don’t wait until the day of the A Lū‘au to try and snag them, because you won’t be able to. I promise! Click here to book your reservation. Children aged 10 and above will be charged adult ticket prices, resulting in a significant increase in cost.

General Seating – Get the Best Seats
Preferred Seating opens at 5:00 PM while General Seating starts at 5:10 PM.
Get there at 4:30 pm to be the FIRST in line and nab the best seats in the middle aisle, right by the dancers (as seen on my Tiktok video above). Our seat to the performance surpasses even the preferred seats.
Still not sure where the best seat is? Just ask an employee. They’re always ready to show you the top spot in no time.
As soon as you arrive, you’ll be greeted with two lines based on your seating choice. Avoid getting booted to a different line and losing your spot by making sure you’re in the right line. You must make sure you are in the general seating line.
Matching Hawaiin Outfits
Say aloha to some adorable family fashion. It’s a must to rock matching Hawaii outfits with your little ones at the L ū‘au! And guess what? You don’t have to break the bank because Amazon has got your back with super cute and affordable options. You can customize your Hawaiian ears for $40 at the Aulani Resort, and trust us, it’s worth every penny. My daughter had such a blast making her own ears.
