Back in the day, my hubby and I were die-hard Nickelodeon fans. I was totally obsessed with the Rugrats. Like, I wanted to be a part of their crew and go on adventures with them. And you know what we loved even more than SpongeBob and Rugrats? When they hit people with that iconic green slime. It never got old. So, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to visit Nickelodeon Resort and finally achieve our dream of getting slim. How awesome is it that I finally got slimed at Nickelodeon as an adult?! It’s like a childhood dream that turned into reality. Who knew being an adult could be so much fun?

Two Nickelodeon Resorts
Quick fun fact: Did you know that Nickelodeon has two amazing resorts? One in sunny Punta Cana and another in vibrant Rivera Maya, Mexico. Heads Up- the Rivera Maya resort is the newer, fancier hot spot but it means it’s a bit pricier. It is going to cost you twice as much. No way we were going to break the bank on vacation, so we went with Nickelodeon Punta Cana instead of Mexico.

Rooms at Nickelodeon Resort
I recently checked out the renovated rooms at Nickelodeon Resort and boy, are they swanky. But, I gotta say, my inner fangirl was a bit disappointed that the rooms weren’t totally decked out in Nick-themed decor. Don’t get me wrong, they’re still pretty cool, but let’s throw in some more slime and orange splats, am I right?
- Secure a swim-out room by booking well ahead of time, as they tend to sell out quickly. We booked 6 months ahead, but the rooms were sold out.
- The rooms come with free Wifi!
Pineapple Villa
Indulge in luxury with the Pineapple villa – perfect for those with extra cash to spend. A private pool villa featuring an entrance that looks JUST like the famous SpongeBob pineapple. But don’t worry, the interior is luxurious and sans overbearing SpongeBob decor. It’s perfect for anyone who is obsessed with Spongebob.
Issues with our Nickelodeon Room
Night 1:
Our room was hotter than a firework when we first arrived. I let them know that our AC was on the fritz and the team came to fix it. But come midnight, we were still sweating like crazy and had to leave the doors wide open. The crew couldn’t get it sorted the first night, so we sweated it out with the doors open. Bummer, no complementary night in the oven-like room, but at least they treated us to a Characters Breakfast. Though I gotta say, coughing up dough for a sweltering night’s stay left us feeling less than sunny-side up.
Night 2:
Ok, so the first day I was like “Hey guys, our fridge is hotter than a summer day in Texas,” and they’re all like “Nah, it’s supposed to be that way because the fridge is in a cabinet.” But hello, my drinks are basically boiling. So what’s the point of even having a fridge if it’s not doing its job? Oh boy, did I have a wild awakening the next day. My room was filled with smoke so we unplugged the fridge and called maintenance. In the middle of the night, I had to open all the doors to air out the smoke. Can you believe the hotel didn’t try to make it up to us for their mistakes? Lucky for us, there wasn’t a fire!
In conclusion, either that room was cursed or the maintenance team needs a serious wake-up call. I seriously thought I was in danger not once, but twice!

Talk about a challenge! Trying to reach someone at the hotel before your stay is like trying to catch a unicorn. Their phones keep ringing and ringing with no answer in sight. Also, don’t expect much from the front desk at this resort. Want to find the best spots to eat and the coolest activities around? Well, unfortunately, you’ll have to be your own guide on this journey. All you get is a room key and a smile from the front desk.
Personal Consierge at Nicklodeon Resort
Get ready to sit back and relax because your personal concierge has got you covered. They’ll book exciting excursions, and reservations for character dinners, and take care of all your room needs. We were treated like royalty with our own personal concierge. No more waiting around for the hotel staff to take care of things – we received immediate attention. Check if you have a personal concierge included in your room. Trust me, it’s totally worth it. Say goodbye to hours of waiting for hotel assistance, and hello to convenience and luxury.
Heads up! Our room had a personal concierge service, but it took us 3 whole days to discover it. The front desk missed the memo telling us about it. Talk about a missed opportunity for some serious pampering.
Pajama Jam Character Dinner
Are you ready to rock your PJs and party with Nickelodeon stars? We were able to feast on a buffet, mingle with characters, and got epic photos. Who cares if it’s pricey? It’s all part of the Nickelodeon Resort experience. My little ones had an absolute blast. To make your dinner party unforgettable wear your favorite Nickelodeon PJs.

Food and drinks come with your stay, but let’s be real, it’s not always gourmet. It might be hot, it might be cold, and it might not always be the tastiest. You have the standard all-inclusive restaurant choices such as Italian, Asian, burgers, seafood, an adult-only, and a large buffet. All dishes are a hit or miss. But hey, it’s all-inclusive, right? Fear not, let’s focus on the good stuff, and cheer for bottomless drinks.
The Slim drink! It’s my fave, and guess what? You can get it with or without alcohol. It was my go-to drink during our stay.
To save time and avoid long wait times, it’s best to eat earlier rather than later. Wait times for a table can reach up to a staggering 2 hours. If you’re planning on dining at Spacewalker, make sure to book your reservation in advance. It’s the only restaurant on the resort with this requirement. Don’t miss your chance to experience out-of-this-world cuisine in a unique atmosphere.
Exciting Encounter: Real Housewives of Potomac’s Wendy Osefo and her family sat next to us at the restaurant, and we got to chat during our entire meal! Although I didn’t take a picture, I want to honor her family’s privacy. However, I can confidently say that her family, especially her husband Eddie, is truly remarkable. Eddie is well known for his smiling demeanor and he was incredibly welcoming and joyful during our interaction. As a die-hard Brov fan, I got to experience something that’ll be etched in my memory forever!
- Reservations are required for groups of 10 or more. Avoid disappointment at your favorite restaurant by checking their app before heading out. Restaurants close once a week for deep cleaning, so plan your visits accordingly.
- Attention all soda lovers! Prepare to be let down because your favorite fizzy drinks are majorly watered down. Bummer!
Nickelodeon Pool & Beach
Their beachfront location boasts a jam-packed schedule of exciting activities that are perfect for kids of all ages. There are plenty of playmates for your little ones, so they’ll never run out of things to do. There is never a dull moment. My kids were over the moon with the number of friends they made on their very first day at the resort. Choosing a kid hotel has its advantages! You can actually sit back and relax while your kids play with their new friends. You never have to hear the words “I’m bored”. Also, bring your own fun floats to the pool – they’re allowed.
The aqua-blue waters and gentle waves are perfect for kids on this serene beach. Get your spot in the sun early. Sitting by the pool or beach at most resorts can be a bit of a challenge when it comes to finding a chair. But arriving early will give you a better chance of snagging one for yourself.
Aqua Nick Waterpark
It’s packed with exciting features like a splash play zone, complete with slides and a huge tipping bucket. Plus, there’s a lazy river that circles the whole area. The water is shallow at Aqua Nick therefore you can sit back and relax.
But here’s the real highlight: the daily sliming! At 3 pm sharp, the giant bucket fills with bright green water and drenches all the guests. Don’t worry, it’s totally safe for the environment and won’t stain your clothes. Sliming is a must-see experience that everyone will love.
Get personal with their private slime experience for families – $75 for up to 4 people. After a fun dance number, you’ll be called up to a bench next to the waterpark. With a short countdown, the dark green slime drops down, perfect for a different, but safe and easily rinse-off experience. Don’t forget to rinse off in the pool.
- Private slimming sessions occur twice per day and require advance booking through the concierge.
- Aqua Nick is a good 10 to 15-minute walk from the rooms so hop on a golf cart for a hassle-free shuttle ride to the waterpark.
Nickelodeon Place
My kiddos were stoked to hang with their pals and get their play on! We found a super cool section of the resort where all the fun happens for kids. It’s called the Just Kiddin’ Kids Club. Parents can leave their mini-mes (ages 4-12) to enjoy loads of awesome activities, like sliding, ball-pitting, and playing in tons of areas. Plus, every day they get to get their craft and snack on with some seriously fun cooking times.
Activity Sheet
Don’t miss out on our activity guide sheets, available to all guests. You’ll get ’em at check-in, but keep an eye out for wall holders scattered around the resort too. These babies contain the full weekly schedule of all the cool stuff they have going on. Get ready to have some serious fun. We spent a whole week there yet still missed out on tons of fun activities. The possibilities for adventure are endless!
- The circus they put on every night is the place to be for bouncy houses, face painting, music, cotton candy, popcorn, balloon animals, and jaw-dropping circus acts. And the best part? Everything is absolutely FREE! Your little ones won’t be able to resist the excitement and you won’t want to miss it either. My kids went every night and were still obsessed each night.
Character Meet in Greets
Get your swimsuits ready because the characters are always making a splash at the waterpark. Unless you catch them at the Pajama Jam, that is! You can always spot them with a keen eye on the activity sheet.
