Italy is a place that everyone wants to go to. A bucket-list destination for good reason; it’s a beautiful country and full of culture. Congratulations, I hope that if you are reading this it means you’re thinking about going!
Here is my suggestion:
Start in Milan- 1 to 3 days
End in Rome- 5 plus days
Fly into Milan, Italy- Malpensa Airport
I think it would be best to start in Milan, Italy. It’s a big city with lots of things going on, and there are so many historical sites that you can visit while exploring the amazing culture. I suggest staying 1 to 3 days. You can find some really great deals flying into Milan Malpensa Airport. This is the largest international airport in Italy, so it’s no surprise that there are many opportunities for travelers looking to save money when they fly in and out of here. For the record, it’s my favorite city in Italy.

Take a 2 1/2 hour bullet train ride from Milan to Venice
Venice is a city of canals, gondolas, and gorgeous architecture. It’s also home to tons of seafood restaurants. A day exploring this beautiful town may be enough for you, but if it doesn’t feel like enough time then plan on spending another night in Venice before heading off toward Florence or Rome the next morning.

Take a 2-hour bullet train ride from Venice to Florence
You’ll be blown away by the beauty of Florence, it is a one-of-a-kind city in Italy. Take a 2-hour train ride from Venice and stay there for 3 days, if not more. The art, architecture, and history of Florence are unlike any other place in the world. This Tuscan city has so much to offer! From the beautiful duomos to Michelangelo’s David statue, to amazing renaissance museums, you’ll be able to see some truly amazing things that will leave your heart racing with excitement.

Take a 1 hour 30-minute bullet train ride from Florence and Rome
If you are looking for a place to explore, Rome is the perfect destination. I recommend that visitors spend at least three days in this historic city, and if they have more time, then five will be even better. Roma has so much beauty hidden away, and every corner holds something new and exciting. It stores ancient ruins and modern landmarks, such as The Colosseum, incredible museums, and attractions like the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. This is the NYC of Italy. If you love history then you can’t skip over this city.
